It was fanfare at the Lagos State House Ikeja on Tuesday as the First Lady, Dame Abimbola Fashola and her husband, Governor Babatunde Fashola hosted children from diverse backgrounds for the end of the year party.
Speaking after the event, Dame Emmanuella Abimbola Fashola said the period of Christmas is a period for celebrations, adding that the fact that people are alive is enough reason to celebrate.
According to her, it is not only when the economic situation is good that people should celebrate. "Our celebration should not be conditional. God says we should celebrate for as long as we are living and we are well," she said.
The First Lady urged Nigerian children to keep doing good things. "Let us keep upholding those values that make us one, those that promote love and peace and for all the children to embrace loving one another".
Addressing the children amidst dancing and different games at the open field of the State House, the Governor, meanwhile, reiterated that the only way to enjoy the good things of life is to embrace hard work, just as the parents who are working in the public service with the Governor have worked hard to plan the party.
The Governor who took time to play, dance and interact with the children, gave a commitment that he would continue to work hard to make Lagos a better and secured place with a solid and better future than now and where everyone can aspire to his dreams.
Governor Fashola said the children should always appreciate their teachers for the unflinching efforts in molding their characters and their parents for supporting them, and their family at all times.
The party which featured different games like bouncing castles, imaginary obstacles, floating castles, dancing competition as well as fun train rides also witnessed the cutting of the Christmas party cake by the Governor and his wife who were supported by children.
