May 15, 2011 - Abimbola Fashola Urges Lagosians To Support Needy

The First Lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola urged Lagosians to assist the needy recently as she gave gifts to recipients at the empowerment programme organised by the Counselling Ambassador Organisation.

She said, "All of the beneficiaries are less privileged people who need assistance from the society. Today I'm happy because these set of people are empowered and happy."

In addition, she encouraged the beneficiaries at the event that only God could support them, calling them to give their lives to him.

She said, "As I present the items to you, I want you to remember God by praising his name everyday. If there is any of you that have not given his life to Jesus Christ, let him do so quickly because no matter how much has been given to you today, without God, it is vain."

Earlier in her remark, the Coordinator of the organisation, Mrs. Iyabo Obasa said that those who benefited from the empowerment were jobless people who roamed the streets without anybody to assist them.

Obasa also spoke in line with Dame Fashola, urging the beneficiaries to look on to God whenever they are at crossroad, saying with God all things are possible.

She however appealed for fund for many less privileged people who would soon be presented to the public for support.

Some of the items given at the events include grinding machines, crates of soft drinks, sewing machines etc.
