Jan 1, 2010 - First Baby Of The Year 2010 Held At Lagos Island Maternity Hospital

May I seize this opportunity to wish us all a joyous New Year. It is my prayer that God Almighty will make this year a fulfilling one for us, our dear State, and our country.

This morning we are gathered at this flagship maternity hospital for the traditional welcome of the First Baby of the Year 2010. It is a tradition we have continued to observe faithfully with the hope and prayer that the joy with which we have started this year will continue to abide with us, throughout.

I therefore congratulate our first baby of the year who was delivered in the early hours of today. We join the lucky mother and the family in thanking God for safe delivery. It is my prayer that this baby will continue to be a source of joy and happiness for the family, our state and his generation.

I congratulate all other babies that were delivered recently and wish all those on admission speedy recovery.

To all the doctors, nurses and other staff of Lagos Island Maternity Hospital, well done for your dedication, commitment in the past year. Kindly keep up the spirit and continue to deliver excellent service in line with the ongoing reform being implemented by the state government in our health sector.

Finally, we appreciate the kind gesture of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in the donation of N50,000 to the First Baby of the Year and gift items to other five babies delivered today.

Once again, I welcome most sincerely our First Baby of the Year and also wish everyone a brighter and rewarding New Year.
