I am honoured by the invitation of the management of Bridge House College to witness this 5th Prize Giving Day and lecture organised in honour of the graduating students of the college. I congratulate all the graduands, proud parents and guardians on the happy celebration of today.
My heartfelt congratulations is also extended to the Board and Management Staff on the 5th year anniversary of Bridge House College. I commend you for sustaining the vision of the College.
The role of education as the bedrock of growth and development cannot be overemphasised. It is the best policy and legacy that can be bequeathed to the younger generation. This is why the current administration under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, S.A.N is doing everything possible to improve the quality of education and restore confidence in the public school system.
Just recently, the 2nd Lagos State Education Summit was held. The summit was in line with the public and private sector participation (PPP) initiative which in this case, was aimed at providing a forum for all stakeholders to rub minds and generate ideas on the common goal of enhancing the future of our society by providing academically sound and morally upright future leaders. This is very important because no Government can solely cater for the educational needs of the people. Sustainable partnerships and collaboration between public and private sector education providers and managers is therefore a good initiative that must be embraced by all.
I am deeply encouraged by the motivational lecture by the Guest Speaker, the renowned Mr. Fela Durotoye on the topic “Deliver the Future”. I have no doubt in my mind that you all have been inspired and will reciprocate the solid educational foundation that you have received by working hard and ensuring that you excel academically in your undergraduate courses.
Once again, I thank the Board, Management and students of Bridge House College for inviting me to be part of this celebration.
I wish all graduands best of luck in their future academic pursuits.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
First Lady of Lagos State
