• Says Lagos Plans To Bridge Gap Between Public And Private Schools
First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, on Monday expressed her utmost gratitude to Lagosians for their prompt response to tax payment, attributing the several on-going projects in the State to it.
Mrs Fashola, who received staff and pupils of Pampers Private School, Surulere, Lagos, stated that Lagosians are particularly happy to see their taxes spent judiciously on vital projects within the State.
Expressing her delight with the personal persuasion of many Lagosians to pay their taxes, Mrs Fashola stated that “Everyone you meet will tell you that I am going to campaign, I will be the first person to pay my tax and I will tell my neighbours to pay theirs as well”.
The Lagos State First Lady then enlisted the pupils of Pampers Private School to gently encourage their parents to continue to pay their taxes, adding that “You must get home and ask your Moms and Dads, are they paying their taxes as well?”
Responding to a question by a pupil of the private school, Mrs Fashola stated that the Lagos State Government provides free uniforms, free meals, free tuitions and free books to bridge the gap between public and private schools.
“The plan of the Government is to ensure that no difference exists between privileged kids in private schools and their counterparts in public schools”, the First Lady added.
The First Lady advises Lagosians to exercise patience because the minor glitches caused by the several on-going constructions at various sites within the State will lead to better quality of life upon completion.
In addition, Mrs Fashola identified passion to see a better Lagos State as the vital inspiration driving her husband, Governor Babatunde Fashola (SAN), to be an agent of change in Nigeria. “We can make it right within our country”, she added.
To achieve greatness, the Lagos First Lady advises the pupils to keep to their words. “Let your words define you. You are showing that once you utter anything, you live by it”, she declared.
Meanwhile, during this courtesy visit by the staff and pupils of Pampers Private School, the Cadet Society of the school presented a Special Award to the Lagos First Lady.
