May 10, 2009 - 10th Edition Of The Women Conference

About this time last year, I had the privilege and grace through the invitation extended to me by Rev. Funke Felix-Adejumo to be part of the 9th edition of this conference. It was really a wonderful and spiritually uplifting experience particularly the inspiring and insightful message of our Father in the Lord, on the theme of the conference – “The Proof of Grace”. If I may recall, one of the high points of that message was that women should always be there for our respective homes and live up to our primary responsibilities as wives and mothers. I hope we are still watching and praying for our homes and nation.

It was therefore with great delight that I received another invitation from our Mother in the Lord to be part of this 10th edition of The Women Conference with the theme “History Makers”. Let me at this point congratulate the convener of this conference, Rev. Funke Felix-Adejumo through whom the Lord is empowering and uplifting women of this generation. I also congratulate our father, Bishop Felix Adejumo without whose support and visionary leadership, it would have been difficult to sustain this conference for the past ten years. It is my prayer that God will continue to renew your strength like the eagle and grant you many more years of service in His vineyard to continue to guide us on the path of righteousness and salvation in Jesus name.

The theme of this year’s conference reminds me of the usual saying that some make history happen, some watch history happen while some only ask what has happened. History makers are men and women of profound vision and ability whose impact on humanity is timeless.

As a result of the difference and positive impact they make in the society, they are celebrated not only in their generation but also by succeeding generations.

It is very important to note that history makers are not recognised by personal achievements but by their contribution towards advancing the course of humanity. They are great change agents, people with strong faith, inspiring attitude, courage, determination and selfless disposition. These are shining qualities and attributes which as believers, we must strive to imbibe and develop to be able to make positive impact in our communities and nations.

Those, whose footprints will remain indelible in the sands of time are those whose ultimate goal is to leave the world better than they met it and who are determined to have successors as there cannot be any meaningful success without a worthy successor. They are people who not only talk it, but also work it and remain focussed when faced with challenges. Even though the system may be hostile to the new idea of change, they are not afraid to be different because history makers don’t go with the tide and neither are they afraid to be in the minority. Even the scripture affirms this when it says narrow is the way that leads to eternal life but broad is the way that leads to perdition.

My dear sisters, my message to you as you prepare to return to your different locations is to dare to be different. Remain steadfast in upholding the positive values and ideals that will make the society and the world a better place for all.

Once again, I congratulate our Daddy and Mummy on the success of the 10th edition of this conference and wish you many more successful editions in Jesus name.

I wish all my dear sisters a safe and pleasant journey home.

Thank you and may the Lord bless and keep you all as we abide by His will.
