As we celebrate this year’s International Women’s Day with the theme “Women and Men Unite against Violence against Women”, I wish to extend my congratulations and best wishes to all hardworking and very supportive women in Lagos State. I also want to thank His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola S.A.N, Governor of Lagos State for all the efforts of this administration to enhance the status of women in the State.
I urge all our women to continue to be steadfast and committed to discharging their responsibilities as wives and mothers. We must also continue to discharge our civic responsibilities, contribute constructively and support efforts by our government to transform Lagos into a mega city that we will all be very proud of.
May I also use this opportunity to advise our women to give greater attention to issues of their health and living. We can safeguard our health and protect ourselves against falling victims of deadly diseases such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, high blood pressure by taking advantage of opportunities provided by the government to check our health status regularly e.g a complete medical check-up yearly.
This is very essential because most of the ailments that are responsible for high and increasing mortality rate within our society can be prevented if detected at an early stage.
Once again, I rejoice with all women in Lagos State and wish us all many happy celebrations.
Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
First Lady of Lagos State
