Jan 1, 2009 - The First Baby Of The Year At The Gbagada General Hospital

It gives me great pleasure to be here this morning to welcome the first baby of the year at Gbagada General Hospital.

I congratulate the lucky mother and all other mothers who also delivered in the early hours of today.

I am happy to observe the series of the structural development that are taking place in this hospital including the on-going construction of a modern Cardio-Renal Centre. It is also heart-warming to note the increase in patients’ attendance which resulted in the delivery of 20 sets of twins last year. This, no doubt, is a reflection of the increase in the people’s level of confidence in the quality of health care service being provided by this hospital.

I commend the Medical Director, Doctors, Nurses and the entire Staff for the good job you are doing. As we begin a new year, I wish to enjoin you to renew your commitment and continue to provide quality service to ensure a brighter and rewarding future for all.

Once again, I welcome the first baby of the year and wish to advise all mothers to take good care of their babies by breastfeeding them exclusively for the first 6 months after birth and also ensure that they receive the necessary immunizations as scheduled on their hospital card.

Finally, on behalf of the babies and their parents, I want to say a big thank you to Vono Products Nigeria Plc for donating baby mattresses to be presented to the baby of the year and other babies delivered in the early hours of today.

I wish us all a blessed and fruitful 2009.
