On behalf of His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Governor of Lagos State, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to Lagos House, Marina on this special occasion of the 2008 Carol Service being organised by the State with the theme “A King is Born”.
The essence of this service is to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. This celebration which comes once a year is also expected to serve as a reminder to us all of our responsibilities as individuals to our creator, humanity and ourselves as exemplified by the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christmas as we all know is a season of goodwill and a time for stocktaking. It is also a major celebration that ushers in a new year which signifies a new beginning. As we prepare to celebrate these series of events in next few days, my prayer is that God almighty will bless our families, our State and also preserve our lives to witness many more of these celebrations in good health and prosperity.
I want to use this opportunity to say a very big thank you to everyone for the support, prayers and goodwill which we have enjoyed in the past 19 months. May the joy and blessings of this season continue to manifest in our lives.
Once again, I welcome you all and wish you Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
