Oct 4, 2008 - FOMWAN Eid-El-Fitri Family Day Celebration
Assalamu Alaykum Warahmotulahi Wabarakatuhu
It gives me great pleasure and delight to join the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria family, Lagos State Chapter under the able leadership of the Amirah, Alhaja S. O. Sanusi on this celebration of the 23rd Eid-el-Fitri Family Day.
We give glory to Almighty Allah the most merciful, the most gracious for making it possible for us to witness the beginning and end of this year’s month of Ramadan. We pray that He will accept our fast, our supplications, our acts of charity and grant us the grace to witness many months of Ramadan in good health.
I congratulate the leadership of FOMWAN, Lagos State Chapter for their commitment towards sustaining this laudable celebration.
This annual gathering will no doubt, serve a very useful purpose of fostering unity in the family and also strengthen the spirit of brotherhood which is strongly emphasised by Allah in the Quran and Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in his Hadith and Sunnah.
Let me also commend you on the special empowerment scheme which I am informed was initiated two years ago to complement the efforts of the State Government in the area of poverty alleviation. I congratulate this year’s lucky beneficiaries of the scheme and urge them to make judicious use of the assistance you have been given to become self reliant.
My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate this year’s Eid el Fitri, I enjoin everyone of us not to forget the primary objective of the fasting exercise in the month of Ramadan which is to increase in us the fear of God.
Let us strive to ensure that we are always guided by the fear of God in everything that we do especially in our dealings with fellow human beings irrespective of differences in belief, race and social circumstances.
Finally, I want to thank you for your support and urge you to continue to pray for the success of the current administration at all levels particularly Lagos State under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN.
Once again, I congratulate you all and wish you a very successful celebration.
Maa Salam.
Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
First Lady of Lagos State
