Jun 20, 2008 - Allure Women On Wellness Seminar
It is indeed a great pleasure and delight for me to be here this morning and be part of this seminar organised by Vanguard Newspapers. I applaud this initiative by the Publisher and Board of editors of Vanguard as their contribution to the physical and mental advancement of woman.
Women as we all know, through our being are more prone to a number of ailments and health conditions that may become life threatening if proper attention is not paid to them. As women we need to have a good understanding of our physical nature. Medical experts have shown that due to our nature as women we fall more victims to HIV/AIDS compared to men. Also, other health challenges such as maternal mortality, breast cancer, cervical cancer among others which are exclusively associated with women.
At the heart of this challenge is also the difficult task of successfully balancing the roles of a mother, wife and co-breadwinner while still maintaining one’s feminist. For a modern woman particularly in this part of the world, it is a daunting task which would take the grace of God, discipline, sacrifice and courage to accomplish.
In an effort to assist women overcome these challenges, important discoveries have been made through researches, and from which very useful tips have been developed over the years. It is very important that continuous efforts are made through various forums like this, to educate and inform every woman.
My personal experience has shown that we find tips for healthy living very challenging and difficult because of our lifestyle and habits. However with discipline, determination and strong commitment, one will gradually overcome the challenges and it then becomes a part of us.
Given the quality of the resource persons who are experienced professionals, I have no doubt in my mind that this two day forum will be most rewarding for all participants. I will like to remind you that success of this seminar can only be measured not by the amount of information you are able to gather but by the extent to which you have successfully applied it in your daily lifestyle.
Once again, I commend the Publisher and Board of Editors of Vanguard Newspapers for organising this women on Wellness Seminar which I have the pleasure and honour to declare open.
I thank you for your kind attention. God bless you all.
