May 11, 2008 - Women Conference Of Agape Christian Ministries, Akure
This morning I am honoured to join you my dear sisters in Christ to give praise and adorations to the exalted name of the almighty God for the privilege to be a partaker of the blessings of this year’s Women Conference and the opportunity to be present at today’s special closing service.
Let me use this opportunity to welcome to Nigeria my sisters who have travelled from far and near to be part of this 9th edition of the women conference.
I bring to this important gathering particularly to our father and mother in the Lord, Rev. and Rev. (Mrs.) Felix Adejumo, the warm greetings of my darling husband, His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN, the Governor of Lagos State and that of the entire women of our dear State.
I have no doubt that the past 3 days of this conference has not only afforded participants the opportunity of a sober reflection and evaluation of spiritual progress and exploits made in the past years, and has brought about a spiritual re-awakening and socio-cultural re-orientation with its attendant benefits of equipping women to be better prepared for the challenges of life and building in them a sense of patriotism and selfless service to the society.
The “Proofs of Grace” the theme for this year’s conference I believe, was divinely inspired to call our attention to the need to give deserved recognition to the unmerited favours which we continually receive from God and is evident in all aspects of our lives but more often than not we easily take for granted.
Therefore, at a time like this, the question that should agitate our mind is what can we do to reciprocate this undeserved kindness of God to us? In other words, how much of a blessing are we to others particularly to members of our immediate community and humanity in general. In the same vain, as Christian women, we should always evaluate the level of our contribution towards ensuring the growth and development of our society, particularly, in ministering to the needs of others.
On this note, dear sisters in Christ, I enjoin you to make full proof of your ministries as women, wives and mothers with peculiar talents and unique attributes that are presently needed to bring about the society of our dream, where the fear and reverence of God, a genuine concern for the welfare and wellbeing of others and the love for God, our neighbours and nation will always take a pride of place.
In conclusion, I congratulate the virtuous women of the Agape Christian Ministries and in particular Rev. (Mrs.) Funke Felix-Adejumo, the convener of the Women Conference for a successful conference. I also wish all my sisters journey mercies as you return to your various destinations.
Once again, I thank you for your kind attention. God bless you all.
Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
