Dec 1, 2007 - 2007 LTV Christmas Fair

I am very delighted to be here today as we gather to flag off this year’s LTV Christmas funfair, a laudable programme pioneered by Lagos Television twenty three years ago.

I commend the management and staff of Lagos Television under the able leadership of the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Lekan Ogunbanwo for sustaining this project which has become a household name for family relaxation, shopping and entertainment during the yuletide season.

It is very essential to note that, apart from creating a conducive atmosphere for fun, this annual programme also serves a very important purpose of providing a platform for family bonding and integration which is very vital to the ongoing process of value reorientation in our society.

As we look forward to a very exciting celebration, let me use this opportunity to appeal to all Lagosians to let moderation and decency be our watchwords. We must also remember the less privileged and the needy in the society by extending love, care and goodwill to them so that they too will have cause to be happy and joyous during this season.

While the children eagerly await the arrival of Father Christmas into the grotto, I enjoin parents and guardians to take advantage of this opportunity to spend quality time with their wards and enjoy the fun of the season together.

Once again, I commend the management of Lagos Television for their commitment and resourcefulness which have ensured sustenance of this programme.

It is my pleasure and honour to formally declare open the 2007 LTV Christmas Fair to the glory of God and the relaxation of every family.

I wish all Lagosians merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.

Thank you and God bless you all.

Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
First Lady of Lagos State
