Nov 28, 2007 - Family Care Association Year-End Christmas Party For Lagos State Underprivileged Children

I am highly delighted to be part of this year-end Christmas party being organised by the Family Care Association for the underprivileged Children in Lagos State. On behalf of the government and people of Lagos State, I want to express profound appreciation to the team of Family Care for this kind gesture which I am informed is a yearly event that started since the year 2000.

What we are witnessing here today is a perfect demonstration of the real essence of the season which is about extending love and goodwill to all people especially the less privileged who are often forgotten in festive seasons. Caring for their needs and making them feel the joy and happiness of the season will surely go a long way in giving them a sense of belonging and an assurance that they are members of the society.

Let me therefore use this opportunity to appeal to everyone to spare a thought for the needs of the less privileged in our neighbourhoods and share with them out of the abundance God has blessed us with so that they too can be feel the celebration of the season.

I would like to also remind us not to limit our care for the less privileged and people in need to festive seasons only. Let us make it an habit to be demonstrated from time to time. Nothing should be considered too little or too big to contribute towards promoting the welfare. It is a meritorious duty which is required by us and we always be rewarded by God almighty.

Once again, I commend the Family Care Association for organising this event and wish everyone Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year in advance.
