Nov 22, 2007 - 25th Anniversary Celebration Seminar Of Stonecroft Bible Studies

I am very pleased to be part of this women’s seminar organised by the Friendship Bible Fellowship to mark the 25th anniversary of Stonecroft Bible Studies formally known as Friendship Bible Coffees. I would like to thank the President and National Coordinator of SBS, Mrs. Ayida and her team for the honour of the invitation to be part of this celebration and also the privilege of presenting a keynote address to declare the seminar open.

On a day like this, after giving glory to God almighty for His mercy and blessings, it is proper to applaud the efforts of the people through whom this laudable idea was inspired and nurtured to the enviable height that it has attained today. I will therefore congratulate and commend all members of Friendship Bible Fellowship Ministries particularly Mrs. Bunmi Adeniji through whom, I was informed, this fellowship started 25 years ago. I salute your courage, diligence and steadfastness which have not only sustained this idea over the years, but also made it a source of blessing for men and women whose lives have been impacted positively.

I hold the view that the aims and objectives which this fellowship seeks to achieve, with regards to women, could be said to be more relevant today than when it was commenced 25 years ago. The challenges faced by women today and the urge to compromise on moral values in desperation to overcome various problems makes the existence of fellowships such as this very useful as it strengthens the faith of members and also gives each individual a better understanding and appreciation of God’s words and promises in the scripture, a very welcome development.

“Becoming a woman of Influence and Purpose” and “Challenging Women to reach their fullest Spiritual Potential”, two topics that will be addressed by very qualified personalities at this seminar, are no doubt, very relevant and essential to transforming women into effective change agent. It must however be emphasized that whatever height we may desire to attain in life must be pursued within the context of our primary responsibility as a home maker.

For me, this is one role we cannot afford to fail in discharging considering the gravity and its consequences on the whole fabric of the society. It is therefore very important that we continue to encourage and support one another in seeking self fulfilment in this area of our natural calling which I believe can be achieved with a good sense of purpose strengthened by indepth spiritual awareness. I urge everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to refresh our minds with new ideas and experiences that will be shared at this seminar. More importantly, we must challenge ourselves by resolving to do as we have heard.

Once again, I congratulate the President and National Coordinator, Mrs. Ayida and all members of Friendship Bible Fellowship Ministries on the 25th anniversary celebrations of Stonecroft Bible Studies. I wish you happy celebrations and hope that our guests from abroad will go back with fond memories of Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general.

I thank you for your kind attention. God bless you all.

Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
First Lady of Lagos State
