First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Abimbola Fashola, addressing the audience during the 7th National Women Conference.
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola (R) discussing with the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, during the 7th National Women Conference.Nov 2, 2007 - 7th National Women Conference
On behalf of the entire members of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), it is my pleasure and privilege to welcome our Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, Governor of Benue State to the closing ceremony of the 7th National Women Conference. We feel most honoured by the presence of Your Excellency in our midst today in spite of your very tight schedules. I also welcome His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Governor of Lagos State for creating the time to be with us once again.
I welcome Her Excellency, Mrs Sarah Adebisi Sosan and all our distinguished guests and participants who are here seated.
Two days ago, I had the privilege and honour to welcome everyone to the formal opening of this conference. Today, glory be to God, the most high, who in His infinite mercy has granted us the grace to conclude yet another successful conference.
Your Excellency, as you are already aware, the theme for this year’s conference is “Setting Your Goal, Making It Happen”. It featured topics ranging from politics, time management, healthy living, etiquette to financial management. Let me use this opportunity to appreciate all our resource persons for living up to our expectation through the excellent, well researched and very educative
papers that were delivered in the last two days.
My sincere advice to all my sisters is to continue to reflect on all issues that were discussed at this conference even as we step out of this hall. The ultimate success of this conference and any conference for that matter will be measured by the positive change it brings about in our lives and the extent to which we are also able to impact the lives of others.
Your Excellency, we are using the opportunity of this closing ceremony to celebrate two women who have been of tremendous support to us. They have also brought a lot of honour and pride to womanhood through the exceptional and outstanding achievements they have recorded in their spheres of human endeavour. Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, the two recipients of our certificates of appreciation for this year are:
1. Hajia Bola Shagaya and
2. Prof. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, Director-General Nigerian Stock Exchange
Let me use this opportunity to once again thank all our sponsors without whose support, this conference would not have been successful. May God continue to bless and prosper you all.
As we draw the curtains on this 7th National Women Conference, I want to appreciate all our participants for your understanding and trust in us. You all have been very wonderful.
I cannot end this address without applauding the efforts of every member of the Organising Committee under the able, dynamic and committed leadership of the chairperson, Mrs Veronica Idowu Panox. God bless you all.
I wish everyone journey mercies and the continuous blessings of God almighty.
Once again, I welcome Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen.
See you next year.
Her Excellency
Mrs. Abimbola Fashola
