Oct 20, 2007 - Federation Of Muslim Women Association Of Nigeria 22nd Annual Eid El Fitr Family Day Celebration
In the name of Almighty Allah, the most gracious, most merciful.
It is indeed a great delight for me to be part of this year’s Eid-el Fitri Family Day celebration being organized by the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter. I congratulate members of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria in general and the Lagos State chapter in particular for the celebration of another beautiful and memorable Eid-el Fitri Family Day.
I also want to commend the Amirah and members of this great association for the good work they are doing in bringing all Muslim women from various association together under one banner in order to forge unity among the Muslim ummah. You will agree with me that unity is the bedrock of a progressive society and I am glad that FOMWAN has succeeded in this regard. The impressive turnout of women and children is an attestation of this fact.
I am reliably informed that FOMWAN is not only bringing Muslim women organizations together but also through their programmes have contributed immensely to complementing government efforts in the area of poverty alleviation and establishment of crèche, Nursery and Primary schools across the State.
I am also informed that FOMWAN has established Computer Training Centre at their State Secretariat in Makoko for training male and female members of the public. These are no doubt programmes initiated to cater for not only spiritual but also socio-economic wellbeing of the Muslim woman.
While rejoicing with you on this occasion of Eid-el Fitri family day which is dedicated to marking the end of Ramadhan fasting, I enjoin you to always remember the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in all that we do, and most importantly the lessons of piety and self restraint that we have learnt during the fasting period.
My dear sisters in Islam, Ramadan is now over, let us strive to maintain the level of piety and self restraint that we have imbibe during Ramadan and continue to be our brothers keeper even after Ramadan.
Once again, I congratulate FOMWAN Lagos State Chapter on this occasion of Eid il Fitri family day celebration and pray that Almighty Allah continue to guide and guard you in all your activities and strengthen FOMWAN to continue to be a blessing to humanity.
I thank you for your kind attention.
Ma salaam.
