May the peace, mercy and blessing of Allah be with you all.
On behalf of His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, the Governor of Lagos State who is presently in Mecca performing the leser hajj, I welcome our father Alhaji Garba Akinola, the Chief Imam of Lagos, other respected Imams and Alfas as well as distinguished guests here present to Lagos House, Ikeja on the occasion of this year’s celebration of Laylatul Quadri, the Night of Majesty.
Let me use this opportunity to thank our Imams and Alfas for sharing with us the priceless words of Allah during the Tafsir sessions since the beginning of this holy month. I also thank you for your ceaseless prayers for the peace, progress and prosperity of our nation and in particular Lagos State under the leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.
As we observe this year’s Laylat-Ul-Quadri which we have been told is better than one thousand months, I urge everyone of us to seize this unique opportunity to pray for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of our State and our nation. I pray that Almighty Allah will in His infinite mercy accept our fast, answer our prayers, grant us good health and long life to witness many more of this night of majesty.
Finally, as the Eid-Ul-Fitri draws near, I enjoin everyone of us to remember the less privileged in the society who are in need of our care and support.
