Sep 16, 2007 - 2nd Edition Of City People Annual Fashion & Style Digest Awards

It gives me great pleasure to be here today to join the management and staff of City people Media Group on this occasion of the 2nd edition of the annual Fashion and Style Digest awards. I congratulate the Publisher/Editor in-Chief of City People Media Group and also commend him and his hardworking team for creating this platform to celebrate and recognise excellence in the fashion and style industry.

 

There is no doubt that fashion and style has come of age in this country and which has given us the recognition as one of the most fashion conscious people in the world. In recent years, we have witnessed dramatic and heartwarming growth in the fashion and style industry as a result of the great sense of creativity, innovation and ingenuity that has been demonstrated by the practitioners.

 

Today, due to the steadfastness, commitment and the hardwork of these practitioners, some of whom are doing our nation proud in the global fashion world, the potentials of the industry as a contributor to national development in terms of providing employment opportunities as well as good source of foreign exchange earning is increasingly becoming very obvious. I will therefore use this opportunity to pay glowing tribute to the icons of the industry including Hajia Zainab Abbah Folawiyo, Chief (Mrs.) Shade Fahm, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija and a host of others whose trail blazing efforts laid the foundation for the lofty height the industry has been taken today.

 

I congratulate all the recipients of this 2nd edition of Fashion and Style Digest Award. It is my hope that this recognition will continue to inspire excellence and healthy rivalry among the practitioners.

 

Once again, I congratulate Mr. Seye Kehinde, management and staff of the City People Media Group on the success of this edition of the Fashion and Style Digest Award.
