Jul 28, 2007 - Aid For The Orphan And Abandoned In Lagos State
I feel greatly delighted to be part of this humanitarian project with the theme “Sounds of Life” organised by the Music Community Development Group of the National Youth Service Corps in aid of the orphaned and abandoned children in selected homes in Lagos State.
I must emphasise that I was deeply impressed and encouraged by the uncommon charitable disposition being demonstrated by these young Nigerians toward the less privileged and people with special needs in the society. This initiative no doubt will give a ray of hope to those in needs who are, through this project, being assured that the society identifies with their plight and cares for their needs.
I am informed that the primary objective of this concert through which members of the group will exhibit their diverse musical talents is to raise funds in support of Alex and Petra , two abandoned children who needs to undergo surgical operations to correct their physical disabilities.
This is a very noble cause which I am proud to associate with. I also wish to call on well meaning individuals and corporate organisation to support this initiative and ensure that it’s objectives are realised. Those of us who are privileged should count ourselves fortunate because it has only pleased God to bless us with what we have today. We therefore must appreciate God and show gratitude to Him by spending part of what we have towards bringing joy and happiness to the faces of those who are less fortunate than us.
Let me emphasise that we don’t have to wait until we acquire so much wealth before we can extend hand of charity to others. Whatever we spend, whether material or otherwise no matter how little it may seem, will contribute towards making a difference in the life of someone.
Once again, I enjoin everyone to support this initiative by contributing generously towards this fund raising.
Finally, I want to commend the organisers for initiating this project and wish you them the best in their future endeavours.
