Today, I thank the almighty God for the opportunity and privilege to join you my brothers and sisters in Christ on the occasion of this special fund raising effort geared towards building a befitting place of worship, where residents of Ajah community can serve and worship the Lord in a most conducive atmosphere.
Let me use the opportunity of today’s event to express my profound appreciation to you all for your fervent prayers and support which led to the electoral victory of my husband, His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Governor of Lagos State. I also wish to thank the President and members of the Catholic Church of Annunciation for inviting me to today’s event and congratulate you for the initiative and positive steps taken toward ensuring that this project becomes a success story and a reality.
It is important that I mention on this occasion, that the Church more than ever, has a responsibility towards ensuring the positive growth and development of the society, particularly with regards to evolving a society that has the fear of the Almighty God. The evident short comings in the proper upbringing of children in recent times with the attendant increase in anti-social behaviours among the youth, place a greater demand for the urgent involvement of the church and other religious bodies in the education and impartation of the right values in the youth.
When more places of religious worship are made conducive, more of the youth will be attracted to imbibe sound religious education that will help channel their energies to more positive ventures. I hope that the event of today will in addition further draw attention to the urgent need to rebuild the various social structures that are necessary for the emergence of a good society.
In conclusion, I enjoin the support of every one here present towards the realization of the Build for the Lord project. Once again, I request your support and continued prayers for the success of the Fashola Administration in Lagos State.
